Interstitial ads for Telegram Mini Apps

Interstitial ads are full-screen ads shown at natural breaks in an app. Used well, they add revenue without the user having to opt in. Used badly, they hurt retention. Here is how to use them well with Adsun.

Interstitial vs rewarded ads

A rewarded ad is opt-in and gives the user a benefit. An interstitial is not opt-in and gives no reward, so placement and frequency matter even more. Many apps combine both: rewarded ads for extra lives or boosts, interstitials between rounds. Read the rewarded ads guide for the opt-in format.

Set up an Adsun Interstitial block

Create an Interstitial block in the publisher workspace, copy its integration code and initialize the controller with the block ID. Call show() at a natural break and restore your interface when the ad closes, is skipped or fails.

const ad = window.Adsun.init({ blockId: "YOUR_BLOCK_ID", debug: true });
function onRoundFinished() {
  ad.show().finally(() => {
    // Continue to the next screen.
  });
}

See the SDK documentation for the full event list.

Good and bad placements

  • Good: after a level, after a result screen, before returning to a menu.
  • Bad: on first launch, while the user types, or every few seconds.

Frequently asked questions

What is an interstitial ad?

An interstitial ad is a full-screen ad shown at a natural transition point in an app, such as between game levels or after finishing a task. Unlike a rewarded ad, the user does not opt in for a benefit.

When should I show interstitial ads in a Telegram Mini App?

Show them at pauses the user already expects, such as after a round ends. Avoid showing them on app launch, during input or in rapid succession.

How do I limit interstitial frequency?

Adsun Interstitial blocks include time between ads and daily limits in block settings. Use them instead of building your own timers in the client.
