Quick answer

Telegram Stars let users pay directly for digital goods and features, so revenue comes from a small share of paying users. Ads earn from every active user, including those who never pay. Most Mini Apps and bots combine both: ads (for example Adsun rewarded and interstitial ads) monetize non-payers, while Stars sell premium items to users willing to pay.

Key takeaways

  • Stars: users pay you directly for digital goods.
  • Ads: advertisers pay; every active user can generate revenue.
  • Combining both monetizes payers and non-payers.
  • Offer an ad-free or premium option for users who prefer paying.

How Telegram Stars monetization works

Telegram Stars is Telegram’s in-app currency for digital goods and services in Mini Apps and bots. Users buy Stars and spend them on items or features you sell. Check Telegram’s current rules and payout terms for details.

How ad monetization works

With an ad network such as Adsun, you add ad blocks and earn when ads are shown or completed. Revenue scales with active users and engagement rather than with how many users decide to pay.

Comparison

  • Who pays — Stars: users. Ads: advertisers.
  • Who generates revenue — Stars: paying users. Ads: all active users.
  • User experience — Stars: no interruptions. Ads: depends on format and frequency.
  • Best for — Stars: premium items. Ads: free apps with large audiences.

Using both together

Use rewarded ads to give non-paying users a way to earn in-app items, sell bundles or ad-free access with Stars, and track revenue per user across both sources.

Frequently asked questions

Are Telegram Stars better than ads?

Neither is always better. Stars earn from paying users; ads earn from all active users. Many apps combine them.

Can I use Adsun ads and Telegram Stars in the same Mini App?

Yes. Adsun ad blocks are independent of how you sell in-app items, so you can run both.

Do rewarded ads compete with in-app purchases?

Well-designed rewarded ads give non-payers a slower path to rewards, while payers still buy for speed or convenience.
